BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Christian Brothers University women's tennis player Raquel Amaro has been named Gulf South Conference player of the week, which was announced by the league, on Wednesday. 

Amaro is the first women's player in CBU history to receive the honor, which was established in 2018. 

The Caracas, Venezuela native helped the Lady Bucs to a 3-0 week, which included a win over Gulf South Conference foe Mississippi College. Amaro finished the week 6-0, sweeping all three singles and doubles matches. 

The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Friday, March 12, when they travel to Alabama, when they will begin a stretch of four weekend matches.
