Baldelli, Bucs Pitch Way to Doubleheader Split With Montevallo

MEMPHIS – Jonathan Baldelli pitched 7.1 innings, and allowed just two runs, to help the Christian Brothers University baseball team earn a doubleheader split with Montevallo, on Friday afternoon, at Nadicksbernd Field. The Bucs earned a 3-2 victory in game one, before falling 6-1 in the nightcap.

Freshman Charlie Seahorn slammed the door on the Falcons, to earn the save, as he allowed just one hit in 1.2 innings. 

GAME ONE: CBU 3 (2-11, 2-11 GSC) Montevallo 2 (7-9, 4-9 GSC) (9)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- With two outs in the second, the Bucs put three runs on the board against Montevallo starter, Hogan Isbell.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Falcons finished the game with an 8-7 edge in hits.
- Reid Voss went 2-for-4 with a double
- Keagan Voss went 1-for-4 with a two run double in the contest.
- Larry Hubbard picked up an RBI, as he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.
- The Bucs had six different players record at least one hit.
- CBU game one starter, Jonathan Baldelli threw 7.1 innings of two-run ball, while tying a career high with seven strikeouts.
- Seahorn picked up his first save of the season, as he recorded the final five outs of the contest.

KEY PLAYS:
- The Bucs got on the board in the second when Larry Hubbard was hit by a pitch with the bases full, which was followed by a two run double from Keagan Voss.
- Asa Awbrey, of Montevallo, scored on a wild pitch in the fourth to cut the lead to 3-1.
- With two outs in the sixth Montevallo used an RBI single to make it a 3-2 game.
- In the eighth the Falcons had a pair of runners in scoring position, but Seahorn recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the threat.

NOTEABLES:
- Baldelli has won back-to-back starts, while allowing just three runs in 15.1 innings.
- The save for Seahorn was the first of his career.

- The Falcons finished the game with a 9-3 advantage in hits. 
- Keagan and Reid Voss both collected a hit and a stolen base.
- Alex Meadows went 1-for-3 in the contest.
- Blake Dallas tied his career high with eight strikeouts.

KEY PLAYS:
- The Bucs got on the board first as they took advantage of a throwing error by Montevallo to lead 1-0 after one.  
- The Falcons responded with three runs, on two hits and one error, in the second as they lead 3-1 after two.
- Both starters settled down and were locked in as neither team scored for the next five innings.
- In the eighth, the Falcons opened the inning with back-to-back-to-back doubles as they added on three runs to lead 6-1 after eight.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 13 for final game of their series against Montevallo. First pitch is scheduled for 12pm.
