Montevallo Uses Late Rally to Defeat Bucs

MEMPHIS – Montevallo used a three-run double from Been Teel, in the seventh inning, and held on for a 3-2 win over the Christian Brothers University baseball team, on Saturday afternoon, at Nadicksbernd Field.

GAME CHANGER:
- The three-run double from Teel was the difference, as Montevallo held on to beat the Bucs.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Bucs finished the game with a 10-5 advantage in hits.
- J.D. Goodspeed, Jaime Soto, and Ben Brocato led the Bucs with two hits apiece.
- Keagan Voss, Payne Smith and Goodspeed all had doubles for CBU.
- The Bucs had seven different players record at least one hit.
- CBU starting pitcher Travis Cole went 4.1 innings, while allowing just two hits.

KEY PLAYS:
- The Bucs got on the board first in the third by capitalizing on a passed ball that scored Payne Smith.
- CBU added to its lead in the sixth on an RBI single by Ben Brocato.
- The Falcons had three of the first five batters reach base, in the seventh, and saw it pay off when Teel ripped a bases clearing double to take a 3-2 lead.
- CBU had the bases loaded in the ninth, with one out, but Chandler Ingram forced two straight fly ball outs to end the game.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 20 as they travel to Pensacola, Fla. to take on West Florida. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m CT.
