Harding Holds Off Bucs

MEMPHIS – The Christian Brothers University baseball team scored a pair of runs in the ninth inning, but saw its comeback effort fall just short in a 4-2 loss to Harding, on Wednesday afternoon, at Nadicksbernd Field.

The matchup between former Gulf South Conference foes was the first non-conference contest of the year for the Bucs. 

FINAL: HARDING 4 (10-5) CBU 2 (2-17) 
 
GAME CHANGER:
- After four innings that saw just four combined hits, the Bisons pieced together three straight singles to take a 3-0 lead. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Harding finished the game with a narrow 7-6 advantage in hits.
- A double by Ben Brocato was the only extra base hit of the contest for CBU.
- Reid Voss (2-for-3) was the lone CBU player with multiple hits. 
- Jamarion White drove in his first run of the season. 
- Five CBU pitchers combined for nine strikeouts, including four apiece from starter Jackson Lyons and relief pitcher Charlie Seahorn.  

KEY PLAYS:
- CBU missed an opportunity in the second, when it left a pair of runners stranded. 
- Harding plated three runs in the fifth, using three straight singles. 
- The visitors added a run in the sixth when they took advantage of a CBU miscue. 
- CBU rallied in the ninth, scoring a run on White's sac fly and a pinch-hit RBI single by Garett Reason-Kerkhoff
- With the tying run at the plate, Harding brought in closer Ryder Yakel who recorded the final out. 

UP NEXT:
The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 27, when they host Delta State for a Gulf South Conference doubleheader. First pitch is set for 11 a.m.
