MEMPHIS – Delta State starting pitchers Hunter Riggins and, Christian Day combined to allow just one run on six hits in a doubleheader sweep of the Christian Brothers University baseball team, on Monday afternoon, at
Nadicksbernd Field. The Bucs fell 8-0 in the opener, and saw DSU complete the sweep with an 8-1 win in the nightcap.
In the opener, Riggins struck out 10 batters in seven innings of work. After allowing an early run in game two, Day retired 19 of the next 20 batters.

GAME CHANGER:
- Hunter Riggins struck out 10 and allowed just three hits in seven innings of work.

Antonio Fernandez recorded the hits for CBU.
- CBU starting pitcher Jonathan Balldelli allowed four runs, on six hits, in six innings of work.
KEY PLAYS:
- After the starting pitchers dominated the first five innings, DSU recorded three straight RBI singles to take a 4-0 lead.
- The Statesmen finished the scoring with a run in the seventh and three in the eighth.

- After allowing a run in the first, DSU starter Christian Day retired 19 of the next 20 batters.

Travis Cole had the three CBU hits. Wewers drove in the lone run.

Blake Dallas allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits with five strikeouts.
KEY PLAYS:
- CBU took a 1-0 lead in the first when it took advantage of a Delta State miscue and saw
Luke Wewers flare over the second baseman score Soto.
- The Statesmen responded in the second when Jake Barlow hit a two-run home run off the top fo the center field fence.
- DSU added an insurance run in the sixth, two in the seventh and finished the scoring with three in the ninth.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Friday, April 2 when they travel to Rome, Ga., for a three-game Gulf South Conference series with Shorter. First pitch for Friday's doubleheader is set for 10 a.m. CT.
