Comeback Falls Short as Bucs Drop Extra Inning Contest to Mississippi College

MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University baseball team scored the game-tying runs in the bottom of the ninth, but saw Mississippi College answer with three runs in the 10th, in a 7-4 setback, on Monday at Nadicksbernd Field.

With the win, the Choctaws earned the three-game series sweep.

GAME CHANGER:
- With the game tied in the 10th inning, the Choctaws capitalized on four wild pitches to score three runs. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- CBU finished the game with a 11-9 advantage in hits.
- Keagan Voss, Reid Voss, Payne Smith, and Jamarion White all finished with multiple hits.
- Will Turner went 1-for-4 with the game tying single in the ninth.
- The Bucs had three extra-base hits.
- Choctaws starter, Bryce Lewis, pitched 8.0 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits.
- Bucs starter, Travis Cole, went 7.0 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits. 

KEY PLAYS:
- The Choctaws got on the board first to take a 2-0 lead after three.
- The Bucs capitalized on a Choctaw miscue as they tied the game on a Payne Smith single in the sixth.
- Caleb Reese untied the game in the eighth with a two-run home run to center field, as the Choctaws led 4-2.
- In the ninth, the Bucs sent eight batters to the plate and used five singles to tie the game at four. White and Turner both
  recorded RBI singles in the inning. 
- The Bucs had the bases loaded with just one out, but failed to push accross the winning run. 
- In the 10th, Choctaw batters took advantage of four wild pitches as they scored three runs, and held on for the 7-4 victory.

NOTEABLES:
- The two hits for White are a career-high. 
- Cole has pitched 7.0 innings in back-to-back starts.

UP NEXT:
The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, April 14, when they travel to Jackson, Tenn., to face non-conference Lane. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM.
