Bucs Pitching Overpowers Lane

JACKSON, Tenn. -  The Christian Brothers University baseball team overpowered Lane by striking out a season-high 15 batters in a 7-3 victory, on Wednesday afternoon, at Ballpark at Jackson.

The 15 strikeouts are the most in a game by CBU pitchers since 2018.

GAME CHANGER:
- The Bucs had four pitchers combine to strikeout 15 batters. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Both teams finished with 10 hits.
- Keagan Voss led the Bucs, going 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base and a run.
- Luke Wewers, Travis Cole and Matthew McDaniel all recorded two hits apiece. 
- The Bucs had four extra-base hits in the contest, all doubles.
- Lane starting pitcher Christian Armstrong pitched 4.0 innings, allowing five runs (two earned) on five hits.
- CBU starting pitcher Charlie Seahorn, went 3.0 innings, allowing one run on four hits, and struck-out a career high six batters.
- Garrett Stebbins Johnson earned the win in relief, as he worked three innings and allowed two runs on four hits, with three strikeouts. 
- Jackson Lyons tied a career-high with five strikeouts in just two innings of relief. 

KEY PLAYS:
- The Dragons got on the board first with a two-out RBI single to center-field as they led 1-0.
- The Bucs took advantage of Cole's leadoff double in the third and cashed in three runs to lead 3-1.
- In the fourth, the Bucs started where they left off with a leadoff double by Wewers and later scored one of the Bucs two runs in the inning.
- The Dragons responded with a run in the fifth and sixth as they cut the deficit to 5-3.
- The Bucs added an insurance run in the seventh and ninth innings. 

NOTEABLES:
- The six strikeouts for Seahorn is a career high.
- Stebbins-Johnson earned his first win of the season.
- The 15 strikeouts are the most by CBU pitching since recording 17 vs Rhodes on Feb. 13, 2018.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Saturday, April 17, when they travel to face in-state rivals Union for a three-game Gulf South Conference series. First pitch for Saturday's doubleheader is set for 1 p.m.
