AUSTIN, Texas – Christian Brothers University senior guard
Brynne Lytle was
named Second Team Academic All-American on Thursday, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced.
The 2020-21 Academic All-America® Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA. After recently earning a spot on the All-District 5 Team, Lytle, who has a 3.79 GPA in Biomedical Sciences, was one of just 15 NCAA Division II women's basketball student-athletes on the teams.
The Jackson, Tenn., native was recently named the first Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American in program history after she finished a season that saw her lead NCAA Division II with 25.6 points per game.
Lytle is the first CoSIDA Academic All-American in CBU women's basketball history, and is the seventh selection in the history of CBU athletics.
To be eligible for Academic All-District and All-America distinction, nominees must have reached at least sophomore academic standing and have a 3.30 GPA or higher to go along with legitimate on-court contributions.
