Darvin Gill Joins Women's Basketball Coaching Staff

MEMPHIS - Christian Brothers University women's basketball head coach Jessie Carmack has announced that Darvin Gill will join the staff as an assistant coach.

"We are thrilled to welcome Coach Gill to our CBU women's basketball family, Carmack said. His success at the high school, AAU and collegiate levels will be instrumental to our on-court play and team culture. He is a student of the game, and embodies our compete and find a way mentality."

Gill joins the staff after spending the last two seasons as the video/scouting coordinator at Middle Tennessee State, where he served under the direction of Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Rick Ensell. During Gill's time at MTSU, the Raiders earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, as they claimed the 2021 C-USA Tournament crown, while finishing the last two seasons with a combined 38-17 record.

Before his time at MTSU, Gill spent three seasons as the head coach at Rhea County High School (Evensville, Tenn.). While at Rhea County, Gill helped guide the Golden Eagles to their first back-to-back appearances in the TSSAA Regional Tournament in over 20 years. For his efforts, Gill was twice named District 6-AAA Coach of the Year and was the Basketball Coaches Association of Tennessee East All Stars head coach. His 2018 team broke the school record for wins in a season (25).

Gill has also had stops as an assistant coach at DeKalb County High School, Cannon County High School, White County High School and with the Tennessee Flight Nike EYBL Basketball Club.

The Smithville, Tenn., native earned a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies degree from MTSU, and is expected to complete the requirements for a Master of Education degree at MTSU in December of 2021.

"I would like to thank Coach Carmack, and the administration, for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the CBU family, Gill said. I look forward to contributing to the culture that Coach Carmack has cultivated, and am excited to help our student-athletes and program achieve success on and off the floor."
