HOW IT HAPPENED

• After a bucket by VSU cut the CBU lead to 20-18, with 8:33 left in the half, the Bucs used an 18-6 run to take a 38-24 lead into halftime. 
• The Bucs shot 45 percent in the first half (13-29), while holding the visitors to just 36 percent (9-25). CBU allowed the Blazers to hit just three of their 12 first half three pointers.
• After the Blazers had trimmed the deficit to 48-40, with 14:50 remaining, the Bucs responded with a 13-7 spurt to take a 61-47 lead with nine minutes left. 
• A 12-2 run by VSU cut the lead to 66-60 with five minutes left. 
• An old-fashioned three point play by Jacolbey Owens cut the lead to 77-74 with 21 seconds remaining. 
• CBU made four straight free throws to seal the victory.

• CBU held Valdosta State to its fourth-lowest point total of the season. 
• VSU hit just four of its 20 three point attempts. 
• The Bucs outrebounded the visitors 33-30 and converted 17 points into 20 turnovers. 
• The Blazers got back into the game by shooting 18-28 in the second half. The Blazers were 17-20 from inside the three point arc.
• CBU finished the contest 28-57 (49 percent) from the floor and 19-25 from the free throw stripe. 
• Nick Deifel led the Bucs with 21 points. Jesse Payne IV, Opong Bramble and Aiden Ruthsatz scored 11 points apiece.
