BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Christian Brothers University women's basketball player
Emily Jones has been named Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office, on Tuesday.
Jones averaged 24 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2 blocks to help the Lady Bucs go 2-1 last week.
In the 83-76 win over Alabama Huntsville, Jones scored 25 points, with two rebounds and three assists. On Thursday, Jan. 20, against Valdosta State, Jones scored 21 points and grabbed six rebounds. Jones capped off the week, as she helped the Lady Bucs earn a big league win over West Florida with 27 points and three boards. Over the three games, the Jackson, Tenn., native was 23-39 from the floor, including 11-20 from three point range and 16-18 from the free throw stripe.
This marks the third career Player of the Week honor for Jones, including her second honor in the past three weeks. She was also named GSC Freshman of the Week three times last season. Jones leads the GSC with 20.4 points per game.
The Lady Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, Jan. 27, when they travel to face Auburn Montgomery. Tipoff is set for 6:00 PM. CBU topped AUM 84-79 on January 6.
