Bucs Earn Doubleheader Split at Montevallo

GAME ONE: CBU 6 (6-12, 2-6 GSC) MONTEVALLO 1 (15-5, 2-5 GSC)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- After trailing 1-0, the Bucs scored six unanswered runs the rest of the way.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Bucs finished the game with a 7-4 advantage in hits.
- Van True and Travis Cole led the Bucs with two hits and an RBI each.
- Justin Donovan, Ben Brocato, and Jake Neese also recorded a hit.  
- CBU starting pitcher Garrett Dooley allowed one run, on three hits, with five strikeouts in six innings of work.
- Joseph Gibson earned his first career save, working three innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit. 

KEY PLAYS:
- The Falcons capitalized off a leadoff double and sac-fly to take an early 1-0 lead.
- The Bucs responded with two runs in the third to take a 2-1 lead.
- After four scoreless innings, the Bucs would combine for four runs in the eighth and ninth innings.
- CBU reliever Joseph Gibson retired 10 of the final 11 batters to end the game. 
- Dooley recorded his first win of the season while tying a career-high in innings pitched (6) and strikeouts (5).

GAME TWO: MONTEVALLO 4 (16-5, 3-5 GSC) CBU 3 (6-13, 2-7 GSC)
 
GAME CHANGER:
- The Falcons scored four unanswered runs, including a two-run walk-off home run.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Falcons had an 8-7 advantage in hits.
- Jake Neese led the Bucs with a pair of hits, including an RBI-single.
- Ben Brocato added a pair of hits and a run.
- Travis Cole, Matthew McDaniel and Keagan Voss each recorded a hit.
- CBU starting pitcher Travis Cole surrendered two runs, on four hits in four innings.

KEY PLAYS:
- In the second, the Bucs had five-straight batters reach base to take a 3-0 lead.
- The Falcons used an RBI double in the third to cut the deficit to 3-1.
- In the fourth, the Falcons capitalized on a Bucs miscue to add on another run.
- After a leadoff single, Sam Kuchinski launched a two-run homer to salvage a split for the hosts.  

UP NEXT:
The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 16, when they visit Ouachita Baptist. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 2 PM.
