Bucs Use Big Second Half to Defeat Mississippi College

CLINTON, Miss. - The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team outscored Mississippi College 39-31, in the second half, to defeat Mississippi College 66-60, on Monday night, at A.E. Wood Coliseum.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • MC led for the entire opening 10 minutes of the contest, and had a 19-11 advantage at the midway point. 
  • CBU used a 16-8 run in the last eight minutes of the opening half to cut the MC lead to 29-27
  • The hosts shot 10-25 in the first half, including 10-19 from inside the three-point line.  
  • CBU was 11-32 from the floor.
  • A free throw by Jailen Anderson gave CBU the lead with 19:08 left in the game, CBU never lost the lead after that point.  
  • The Bucs went on a 25-8 run to take a 59-42 lead with six minutes left. 
  • The Choctaws saw their comeback fall short, the Bucs held on to win 66-60. 

KEY STATS | NOTABLES 

  • The win for the Bucs snapped a five-game skid against MC. 
  • CBU finished the game 31-59 (53 percent), including 6-11 from three-point range.  
  • MC was 25-65 (38 percent), and just 4-17 from long-range.  
  • The Bucs won the rebounding battle 34-22.  
  • Anias Futrell finished with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals playing the entire 40 minutes.  
  • Jailen Anderson had 18 points and Christian Jones added 12.
