Bucs Shoot Way Past Trevecca Nazarene

NASHVILLE - The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team shot 55 percent to help it earn a 93-76 win over Trevecca Nazarene, on Tuesday night, at Trojan Fieldhouse. 

With the win, the Bucs swept the season series over the Trojans, who will be joining the Gulf South Conference next season.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • The Bucs used a 19-7 run to take a 28-14 lead at the midway point of the first half. 
  • After CBU extended its lead to 33-16, the Trojans scored 13 of the next 15 points to trim the deficit to 35-29. 
  • The Bucs responded, scoring the final five points of the half, to take a 48-34 lead at the break. 
  • CBU shot a scorching 61 percent in the first half (20-33), including 6-9 from three-point range, while holding the hosts to 43 percent (13-30). 
  • A three pointer by Andrew Eberhardt gave CBU a 74-55 lead, with 8:13 left. 
  • The Trojans briefly cut the lead to single digits, but the Bucs scored 12 of the final 16 points of the contest.

  • With its second road victory, CBU has surpassed its total from last season. 
  • The 76 points for Trevecca matched its season-low. 
  • The Bucs finished with season-highs in shooting percentage (55), three-point percentage (55), three-pointers made (11) and steals (10). 
  • CBU also matched a season-high with 19 assists. 
  • Trevecca shot 39 percent, including just 9-34 (27 percent) from long-range. 
  • The Trojans stayed in the game using 19-27 from the free throw stripe, including 16-22 in the second half. 
  • The Bucs won the rebounding battle 41-33. 
  • Jailen Anderson and Anias Futrell led CBU with 23 points apiece. Futrell also grabbed eight rebounds, and Anderson added seven assists. 
  • Christian Jones finished with 16 points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals. 
  • Christian Thompson rounded out the CBU double-figure scorers with 14 points and eight boards. 
  • In two games against Trevecca, Anderson averaged 26 points and 6.5 assists. 
UP NEXT 
CBU is scheduled to return to action on Friday, Dec. 8 when it travels to in-state rival Union. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
