JACKSON, Tenn. - The Christian Brothers University men's basketball team earned an 88-70 win over in-state rival Union, on Friday night, at Fred DeLay Gymnasium.
The win marked the first time that the Bucs have won back-to-back Gulf South Conference road contests since 2019-20. It was also the first CBU win at Union in its last three attempts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Union jumped out to an early 9-2 lead, an Eric Canavan jumper gave CBU a 25-16 lead with 9:22 left in the opening half.
- The Bucs led by as many as 14 in the opening half, but the Bulldogs used a 17-8 run that cut the halftime deficit to 44-39.
- CBU shot 56 percent in the first half (19-34), including 3-6 from three-point range.
- Three straight three pointers by Anias Futrell, Christian Jones and Andrew Eberhardt helped give CBU a 60-48 lead with 14:35 left.
- CBU used a 12-2 spurt to take an 80-65 lead with 3:13 left.
- The Bucs then scored eight of the final 11 points to finish the contest.

- CBU finished a season-best 60 percent from the floor (35-58), including 7-13 from three-point range.
- The Bucs were also a perfect 11-11 from the free throw stripe.
- The Bucs outrebounded Union 30-26.
- CBU has won the rebounding battle in six of its seven contests.
- Anias Futrell led CBU with a game-high 24 points with six rebounds. The Saint Lous native was also 11-12 from the floor.
- Christian Jones and Jailen Anderson added 17 points apiece. Jones also had eight rebounds and seven steals.
- The seven steals for Jones are the most by GSC player this season and are the most by a CBU player since Trey Casey had eight against North Alabama in 2015.
