MEMPHIS - Visiting Drury hit six home runs to help it earn a doubleheader sweep of the Christian Brothers University baseball team, on Saturday afternoon, at Nadicksbernd Field. The Panthers (Great Lakes Valley Conference) took the opener 11-6 and completed the sweep with a 12-4 win in game two.
GAME ONE: DU 11 (1-0) CBU 6 (3-2)
GAME CHANGER:
The Panthers had six extra base hits in the contest, including four home runs.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Panthers outhit CBU 11-6.
- Eight Drury runs came via the home run.
- Ben Brocato led the Bucs, finishing 3-3 with a home run, a double and two RBIs.
- Matthew McDaniel also had a pair of RBIs.
- Starting pitcher Travis Cole and relief pitcher Charlie Faoro struck out six hitters apiece. Cole allowed six runs, on six hits, in 4.2 innings.
KEY PLAYS:
The Panthers used a two-run home run to take the lead in the top of the first.
Brocato hit a solo home run to cut the lead to 3-1 in the fourth.
After Drury plated six runs in the fifth, CBU answered with four in the sixth and a run in the seventh.
The Panthers added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth to finish the scoring
GAME TWO: DU 12 (2-0) CBU 4 (3-3)
GAME CHANGER:
Drury used a pair of two-run home runs to jump out to a 5-1 lead after four innings.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Bucs were outhit 9-8.
- Ben Brocato finished 2-4 with a pair of doubles and an RBI.
- Ty Jones was also 2-4.
KEY PLAYS:
Drury plated a pair in the first and one in the second.
In the third, Brocato laced a double to right field to get the Bucs to within 3-1.
The Panthers plated three in the sixth to extend their lead to 8-2.
After the Bucs used a sac fly and a bases loaded walk to score a pair in the sixth, Drury scored four in the top of the seventh to finish the scoring.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Sunday, Feb. 12, when they wrap up the series with Drury. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
