BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Christian Brothers University track and field teams earned nine top-three finishes at the Gulf South Conference Indoor Championships, on Wednesday, at the Birmingham Crossplex.
CBU had two event victories, three runner-ups and four bronze medal finishes. CBU also had
Leo Stefanski named GSC Champion Scholar Athlete. Stefanski is a three-time recipient, having previously earned the award in cross country during 2021-22 academic year and indoor track & field during the 2020-21 academic season.
The Schleusingen, Germany native has a perfect 4.0 GPA while pursuing a Master of Data Science degree. Stefanski is the second CBU student-athlete this academic year to receive Champion Scholar-Athlete honors, joining
Johanna Wistokat from women's cross country.
The award is given out at the final site of each GSC Championship event and awarded to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA among teams participating. Each student-athlete GPA is based on the most recently completed term, and the individual must have a minimum of 48 credit hours to be eligible for the award. Student-athletes are only eligible to win the award once per academic year.
