Indoor Track and Field Earns Multiple Top-Five Finishes at Jaguar Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Christian Brothers University men's and women's track and field teams earned four top-five finishes at the Jaguar Invitational, on Sunday, at the Birmingham Crossplex.

The event, which is hosted by the University of South Alabama, featured multiple NCAA Division I and II institutions.  

WOMEN'S NOTABLES: 

  • Oriana Gee continued a solid indoor season, as she claimed a fourth place finish in the 400m with a 56.20. Gee is currently ranked 17th in NCAA Division II and has the top ranked time in the 400m in the Gulf South Conference.
  • After earning GSC Freshman of the Week honors, Gioia Scopel finished seventh in the high jump with a 1.64m (5.38 feet), which also set a new program record. Scopel has the top ranked high jump in the GSC this season. She also ran 9.06 to finish in 15th place in the 60m hurdles.   

MEN'S NOTABLES:

  • Leo Stefanski was the runner-up in 800m with a 1:53.40. His time is currently ranked fourth in the GSC. 
  • Marc Crespi defeated multiple NCAA Division I competitors to finish in second place in the 400m with a 48.74. Crespi currently ranks fourth in the event in the GSC. 
  • Anton Lindberg set a new program record with a 4:15.68 to finish ninth in the mile. 
WHAT'S NEXT:
The CBU men's and women's teams are scheduled to return to Birmingham, on Tuesday, Feb. 14, for the GSC Indoor Championships.
