Memphis, TN- The Christian Brothers University women's track and field team turned in a well-rounded performance on March 20–21 in Memphis, delivering solid finishes across sprints, distance events, and field competitions.
In the 100 meters, CBU placed four runners in the field, led by Madison Woolridge, who finished eighth with a time of 13.46. Micaiah Halliburton followed closely in ninth at 13.56, while Jackelin Ruiz placed 11th in 13.73. Freshman Denise Brouwer rounded out the group in 17th.
The Buccaneers continued to show depth in the 200 meters, where Gioia Scopel led the way with a fifth-place finish in 27.72. Woolridge added another top-10 performance, placing seventh in 27.95.
CBU's strongest showing came in the 400 meters, with Danielle Booker earning a third-place finish in 1:01.49. Teammate Laura De Llano was just behind in fourth, crossing in 1:02.03, giving the Bucs two of the top four spots.
In middle-distance action, Phoebe Steel stood out for CBU. The freshman placed sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:30.78 and followed it up with an impressive third-place finish in the mile, clocking 5:22.38. De Llano also competed in the 800, finishing seventh, while Anna Angeliki Zannetou placed 14th in the mile.
The distance group continued to produce in the 5000 meters, where Kaley Byrd led the team with a sixth-place finish in 19:14.08. Lauren Blyth added a top-10 result, finishing 10th in 19:37.41.
In the field events, Alexis Goodman and Scopel both cleared 1.57 meters in the high jump, tying for third and fourth, respectively, with strong, consistent attempts throughout the competition.
The long jump saw Denise Brouwer lead the team with a mark of 4.77 meters, followed by Ruiz at 4.54 meters.
Overall, the Buccaneers showcased balance and competitiveness across multiple events, highlighted by top finishes from Booker and Steel, along with strong contributions in both the sprints and field events.
