GAME ONE: DSU 9 (9-10, 4-4 GSC) CBU 2 (9-13, 2-9 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
Holding on to a narrow 3-1 in the fourth, DSU scored five runs to take control of the contest.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- DSU finished with a slim 11-8 advantage in hits.
- DSU pitchers Drake Fontenot and Steven Lacy combined for 10 strikeouts.
- Dalton Pyzer led CBU at the plate, finishing 2-for-3 with a home run.
- Nick Stamper drove in the second run for CBU.
KEY PLAYS:
The Bucs took the lead in the bottom of the first when
Dalton Pyzer smacked a home run to right field.
CBU kept the lead until the fourth, when Eric Newsom hit a three-run home run.
DSU extended its lead in the fifth, plating five runs on four hits.
Both teams scored in the sixth to finish the scoring.
GAME TWO: DSU 7 (10-10, 5-4 GSC) CBU 6 (9-14, 2-10 GSC) (5)
GAME CHANGER:
After clawing back from 5-0 and 7-4 deficits, the Bucs had their final five batters retired in order to end the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- CBU outhit the Statesmen 8-7.
- Both teams committed two errors.
- Each team scored four unearned runs.
- Ben Brocato finished 3-3 with three RBIs.
- Clay Facteau had a pair of RBIs.
- Will Gosset and Facteau had doubles.
KEY PLAYS:
The Statesmen scored three runs in the first and two in the second.
CBU answered back with four in the bottom of the second.
Facteau and Brocato both drove in a pair in the inning.
The Statesmen added two runs to take a 7-4 lead in the fourth.
In the bottom of the fourth, an RBI groundout by
Jarret Fowlkes and a run-scoring single by Brocato got the Bucs to within 7-6.
DSU retired the final five CBU batters in order to finish the game.
NOTABLE:
After a one hour lightning delay, the game was resumed in the top of the third.
The contest was called after five innings due to darkness/incoming weather.

The Bucs are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, March 14, when they travel to Bethel for a non-conference contest. First pitch is scheduled for 3 PM.
