MEMPHIS - The Christian Brothers University men's golf team finished second at the Buccaneer Spring Classic, on Tuesday, at Irene Golf Club.
Caleb Bopp earned individual medalist honors after defeating a field that had four nationally ranked players, including No. 1 Charles DeLong (Grand Valley State).
The Bucs finished -3 under par (861), which was 12 shots behind No. 6 ranked Grand Valley State. The Bucs defeated in-state rivals No. 48 Union by 13 shots.
Bopp finished the tournament with a three round total of 208 (-8). His second round total of 65 tied the Irene tournament course record, which was also tied by teammate Benja Boquete last year.
After posting an opening round 284, the Bucs fired 286 in the second round, before shooting 291 to finish with a total of 861. The total is 20 shots better than at the same tournament last season. The CBU "B" team finished in eighth place in the 10 team field.
