NEW ORLEANS - The Christian Brothers University track and field teams earned All-Academic honors, as announced on Thursday, by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
In addition to the team honors, CBU also had eight student-athletes named to the All-Academic teams. CBU was one of just three GSC men's teams to earn the honor. Five GSC women's teams also earned the nod.
Amare Biggers,
Marc Crespi,
Juan Jose De La Rosa,
Andreas Demetriades,
Berket Mesele and
Leo Stefanski represented the men's teams.
Gioia Scopel and
Johanna Wistokat were the honorees for the women's teams.
To be recognized as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete, individual athletes had to achieve an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time/mark in an individual event, or relay, during the indoor or outdoor season, have a GPA of at least 3.25 and completed at least 24 credit hours at CBU.
Here is the criteria for a team be named an NCAA Division II All-Academic Team:
- The cumulative GPA (not 2022-23 academic year, not semester) for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, certifiable by the institution's registrar. Institutions utilizing a different GPA scale must convert the GPA to a 4.0 scale using the standard conversion method [GPA/Scale x 4.0].
- Transfer students and/or graduate students are to include only grades earned at the current nominating institution.
