Christian Brothers scores seven goals in win over Central Baptist

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Christian Brothers men's soccer (3-3-2, 0-1-2 GSC) defeated Central Baptist (4-7, 1-0 AMC) by a final score of 7-1 on Tuesday night at Signaigo Field. The Bucs went up 3-0 in the first half before they outscored the Mustangs 3-1 in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Omarian Velazquez scored the first goal of the match in the 10th minute with a shot from the halfway line.
  • AJ Agbede passed to Marius Opdahl in front of goal in the 27th minute. Opdahl turned on a defender and chipped a shot into the right side of the netting, 2-0.
  • In the 30th minute, Russell Brown scored the first of his two goals. He rolled a shot past the charging keeper for a composed finish, 3-0.
  • The score remained 3-0 until the 76th minute when Central Baptist's Billy Murray scored from distance.
  • CBU returned its starters to the field after the Mustangs scored and sent four shots into the back of the net in less than 10 minutes.
  • Brown scored again in the 82nd minute, Will Allen added a goal in the 84th minute, Alexander Blanche scored his third goal of the season in the 88th minute, and Manny Morales broke through with his first goal of 2024 with two seconds to spare in the contest.

NEXT UP

The Bucs will return to their GSC slate when they head to Alabama-Huntsville on Friday, Oct. 11th for a 7:30 p.m. match.
