Jones, Bucs Knock off West Florida to Earn Fourth Straight Win

PENSACOLA, Fla. Christian Jones had a triple-double to help the Christian Brothers University men's basketball team earn an 88-74 win over West Florida, on Saturday evening, at the UWF Field House. 

The Bucs have now won four straight games. Their seven road wins are the most since 2018-19, and are currently the second-most in the Gulf South Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CBU made its first seven shots to race out to a 15-2 lead.  
  • The Bucs led 30-12 at the midway point of the first half. 
  • CBU led by as many as 18 points, but UWF cut the deficit to 47-35 at the half. 
  • The Bucs shot a scorching hot 59 percent in the first half (20-34), while making 16-25 from beyond the three-point line. 
  • UWF got to within 10 points, in th early stages of the second half, but the Bucs used a 22-4 run to take a commanding 74-46 lead at the midway point of the second half. 
  • The Argonauts were unable to get to within 15 points until there were just 90 seconds left in the contest.

  • The Bucs never trailed in the game. 
  • The Bucs have shot over 50 percent nine times, and over 55 percent five times. 
  • After going 3-8 from the free throw line, in the first half, the Bucs finished 17-26.

  • Christian Jones led the Bucs, posting his first career triple-double. The Memphian finished with 21 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.
