MEMPHIS – The Christian Brothers University basketball team pulled away from Montevallo to earn an 81-65 win, on Thursday night, at Canale Arena.  

The Bucs have now won five straight games. The five straight wins are tied for the most for the program since the 2018-19 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• A three-pointer from Madison Monroe gave the Bucs a 22-14 lead, with 10:12 left in the first half. 
• Scoring runs to the story for the remainder of the half, as the Bucs opened up a 40-20 lead, but the Falcons ended the half on an 18-1 run to cut the halftime deficit to 41-38. 
• The Bucs shot 49 percent in the first half, knocking down five of 11 from long-range. 
• After the Falcons tied the game at 42, just over 90 seconds into the second half, the Bucs scored 11 of the next 14 points to take a 53-45 lead, with 14:56 left. 
• Over the next eight minutes, CBU reeled off a 20-6 run to take control of the game. During the run, the Bucs hit 11 of their 13 shots.

• CBU shot 58 percent in the second half (18-31) to finish 53 percent. 
• The Bucs have shot over 50 percent 10 times.

• After posting the first triple-double by a Gulf South Conference player this season, Christian Jones was just one rebound away from his second straight. Jones finished the game with 13 points, 10 assists, nine rebounds and five steals. 
• Jailen Anderson posted a game-high 22 points. 
• Andrew Eberhardt poured in a CBU career-high 15 points with five rebounds. 
• Christian Thompson and Madion Monroe added 11 points apiece.

CBU is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, Feb. 17 when it hosts Auburn Montgomery for Homecoming. The Bucs fell 89-80, at AUM on Dec. 31. Tipoff is set for 3 PM.
