Gossett's Second Straight Walk-Off Helps Bucs Defeat Talladega

MEMPHIS - For the second straight game Will Gossett delivered a walk-off single, to help give the Christian Brothers University baseball team a 9-8 win over Talladega, on Tuesday afternoon, at Nadicksbernd Field.

Gossett also had the game-winning hit against West Georgia on Sunday. 
 
FINAL SCORE: CBU 9 (5-6) TC 8 (4-8)
 
GAME CHANGER: 
Will Gossett hit a two-run walk-off single in the 9th inning to give the Bucs the 9-8 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 
  • Three Bucs had multiple hits.
  • Ben Brocato led the way going 3-4 with three RBIs.
  • Brocato and Dalton Pyzer each had a home run. 
  • Five CBU pitchers forced the Tornados to strand 10 runners. 
  • Talladega had a 12-10 advantage in hits.
KEY PLAYS: 
The Bucs started the scoring in the first when a Ben Brocato single brought in Royal Hobson.
The visitors used a two-run home run, in the second, to take a 2-1 lead. 
CBU added three runs in the bottom of the third to go up 4-2.
The Tornadoes had another homer in the fifth to go up 6-4.
The Bucs hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead, 8-7.
Talladega regained the lead with a pair of runs in the seventh. 
Trailing 8-7 in the ninth, the Bucs had Ben Brocato lead off the inning with a hit by pitch. 
Down to their final out, Shahkai Matthews was hit by a pitch and Matthew McDaniel walked to set up Gossett's heroics.

NOTEABLES: 
  • This was the second straight walk-off win for the Bucs.
  • Will Gossett matched his career high, with three RBIs.
  • In 55 career games, Pyzer has 13 home runs. 
  • Brocato now has 15 career round-trippers.
