BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - For the second consecutive week, Christian Brothers University women's tennis player Sofia Zemtsova has been named Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league, on Wednesday. 

Zemtsova is the first CBU women's tennis player in program history to earn back-to-back GSC Freshman of the week honors. 

The Lady Bucs went 2-1 last week, picking up victories at Millsaps and Belhaven, with Zemtsova going 5-1 with three wins at No. 1 singles and two at No. 1 doubles. The highlight for Zemtsova came against Mississippi College, where she defeated 2022 First Team All-GSC selection Elyangelica Alas. 

CBU is scheduled to return to action on Friday, March 1 when it hosts Shorter for a GSC contest at the Leftwich Tennis Center. Action is scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM.
