Northwest Missouri Evens Series with Bucs

MEMPHIS - Northwest Missouri State earned a 9-3 win over the Christian Brothers University baseball team, on Friday afternoon, at Nadicksbernd Field.

With the win, the Bearcats tied the series at one game each. The visitors took advantage of 10 walks and six hit batters.  

FINAL SCORE: NWMSU 9 (1-1) CBU 3 (1-1)

GAME CHANGER:
The Bearcats scored four runs in the fourth inning to go up 5-2, and never lost the lead. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • NWMSU finished with an 8-6 advantage in hits.
  • Royal Hobson finished with four stolen bases. 
  • Sam Walker led the Bucs going 2-for-3 with a double.
  • The Bearcats took advantage of 10 CBU walks and six hit batters. 
  • AJ Gamboa and Connor McCaleb each threw three innings with two strikeouts.
KEY PLAYS:
  • Royal Hobson stole third and scored via fielders interference to give the Bucs a 1-0 lead in the first.
  • NWMSU plated four runs in the fourth inning to go up 5-2.
  • The Bearcats scored two runs in both the sixth and eighth to go up 9-2.
  • In the eighth, Hobson scored on a Cory Stienhauer ground out to finish the scoring. 

NOTEABLES:
  • The four stolen bases by Hobson tied the modern-day CBU record for steals in a game.
