Bucs Fall on the Road at Bethel

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Christian Brothers University baseball team dropped a 11-7 contest to Bethel University (TN), on Tuesday afternoon, at Kahlden complex.

FINAL SCORE: BU 11 (19-3) CBU 7 (10-13)

GAME CHANGER:
The Wildcats scored six runs in the last three innings to secure the win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Bethel had a 17-11 advantage in hits.
  • Four Bucs had multiple hits.
  • Dalton Pyzer led the way going 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and two RBIs.
  • Ben Brocato went 3-5 with a home run and an RBI.
  • The CBU pitching staff recorded four strikeouts and left 10 runners stranded.

KEY PLAYS:
The Wildcats opened the scoring with four runs in the first inning to secure the lead.
Dalton Pyzer hit a RBI triple, and Cory Steinhauer hit a RBI double in the third inning to cut the Wildcats lead to 4-2.
The Bucs scored three runs, including Pyzer's home run, a pass ball from the Wildcats, and a sacrifice fly from Will Gossett, in the top of the fifth to take the 5-4 lead.
The Wildcats score one in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 5-5.
A Ben Brocato solo homer in the top of the sixth inning takes the lead for the Bucs, 6-5.
The Wildcats then scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth and two runs in the bottom of the seventh to go up 9-6.
A sacrifice fly RBI from Clay Facteau scores the Bucs one run, cutting the Wildcats lead to 9-7.
The Wildcats bring in two more runs in the eighth inning to secure the win 11-7.

The Bucs return to action on Friday, March 15 when they travel to Pensacola, FL to face the
University of West Florida. First pitch is set for 5:00 PM CT.
