Bucs Hit Way Past LeMoyne-Owen

MILLINGTON – The Christian Brothers University baseball team put up 15 runs to run rule LeMoyne-Owen College, on Wednesday afternoon at USA Stadium in Millington, TN.

 

FINAL SCORE: CBU 15 (12-16) LeMoyne-Owen College 3 (0-16)

GAME CHANGER: 

The Bucs scored 9 runs in the sixth inning to secure the run rule win. 

 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: 

  • Jalen Smith led the way, going 3-4 with two home runs and five RBIs.

  • Clay Facteau went 2-5 with a triple and four RBIs. 

  • The Bucs stole 9 bases in the seven innings. 

  • The CBU pitching staff recorded eight strikeouts and left seven runners stranded.

  • The Bucs had a 11-6 advantage in hits and converted one double play. 


KEY PLAYS: 

CBU jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning from a Clay Facteau 2 RBI triple. 

LeMoyne-Owen takes the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the second inning. 

A Shahkai Matthews RBI and Jalen Smith two run homer put the Bucs up 5-3 in the fourth inning. 

The Bucs added one more from a Matthew McDaniel RBI single to extend the lead to 6-3. 

A big sixth inning for the Bucs added nine more runs to the scoreboard making it 15-3. This inning featured a Clay Facteau 2 RBI single, Will Gossett RBI, Tate Gentleman RBI single, Royal Hobson 2 RBI single, and Jalen Smith 3 RBI home run. 

 

NOTEABLES: 

  • This marks the second game in a row with a home run from Jalen Smith

  • The 9 stolen bases makes this the most stolen bases in a single game since the 2017 season. 
     

UP NEXT: 

The Bucs return to action on Saturday, March 23 when they travel to Cleveland, TN to take on Lee University in a Gulf South Conference series. First pitch of the double header is set for 12:00 PM CT.
