HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Christian Brothers University baseball team used a big hitting spree to secure a 15-5 victory over Rust, on Wednesday afternoon at Rust College.
FINAL SCORE: CBU 15 (13-19) Rust College 5 (8-23)
GAME CHANGER:
The Bucs scored at least one run in eight out of the nine innings to secure the win.

The Bucs had a 19-10 advantage in hits .

Will Gossett led the way going 4-5 with two doubles and three RBIs.

Andrew Reed went 3-5 with one double and four RBIs.

Dalton Pyzer went 3-5 with three doubles.

The CBU pitching staff recorded five strikeouts and left four runners stranded.
KEY PLAYS:
CBU took the early lead, 1-0, in the first inning from a Cory Steinhauer sacrifice fly.
Rust then took the lead in the second inning 2-1.
From then on the Bucs were hitting away.
CBU would add 9 runs in the next five frames making it 10-2, with 14 hits by the Bucs.
Rust would rally back to score three runs making it 10-5 after the seventh inning, however this would conclude their scoring.
The Bucs added a Shahkai Matthews run in the eighth inning from a Rust wild pitch making it 11-5.
CBU would end the game with 4 runs in the ninth inning led with a Will Gossett 2 RBI double, to reach the final score of 15-5.
