CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Christian Brothers University baseball team dropped a pair of contests to Delta State University, on Saturday afternoon, at Harvey Stadium. The Statesmen held on and took the opener 10-4 and hit its way to a 9-1 win in game two.
GAME ONE: DSU 10 (23-14, 14-6 GSC) CBU 4 (13-24, 5-18 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
The Statesmen took a large lead after three that they would never lose.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

DSU had a 14-8 advantage in hits

Two hits were for extra bases.

Carson McCaleb hit a 2 RBI home run for the Bucs.

The CBU pitching staff recorded three strikeouts and left thirteen runners stranded.
KEY PLAYS:
Cory Steinhauer opened up the scoring with an RBI double to make it 1-0 in the first inning.
The Statesmen would take the lead in the bottom of the first with two runs to go up 2-1.
DSU would score 7 more runs by the bottom of the fourth to advance their lead to 9-1.
The Bucs would rally back with two runs from a Carson McCaleb home run and a Ben Brocato RBI single in the sixth inning to cut the lead to 9-3.
Delta State would add one more run in the seventh inning to conclude their scoring making it 10-3.
CBU would tally one more run in the bottom of the ninth to give the final score of 10-4.
GAME TWO: DSU 9 (24-14, 15-6 GSC) CBU 1 (13-25, 5-19 GSC)
GAME CHANGER:
DSU used big middle innings to secure the victory.

KEY PLAYS:
Delta State scored nine unanswered runs to keep the lead 9-0 going into the sixth inning.
Royal Hobson scored on a fielding error by the Statesmen making it 9-1.
This would hold to be the final score of the seven inning game.
