CLEVELAND, Miss. - The Christian Brothers University baseball team fell 9-7 to Delta State University, in the opening game of the Gulf South Conference series, on Friday afternoon, at Harvey Stadium.

The Statesmen scored four runs in the seventh inning to retake the lead and secure the win.

Delta State opened up the scoring with one run in the second inning to take the lead 1-0.
The Bucs answered back with 7 runs in the fourth inning from a Dalton Pyzer home run, a Clay Facteau 2 RBI double, a Carson McCaleb sacrifice fly, and a Royal Hobson 3 RBI home run.
The Statesmen slowly chipped away from their large deficit with 4 runs by the end of the sixth inning, making the score 7-5.
DSU then scored four in the bottom of the eighth inning and held CBU scoreless in the ninth inning to secure the win at 9-7.
