MEMPHIS - CBU closed out the 2024 spring season with a 10th place finish at the Gulf South Conference Championship. It was the fifth competition of the spring. Including two events in the fall, the Bucs had a best finish of fourth (Full Moon Invitational) and also posted a fifth place (Darrell Foreman Invitational).
Under first-year head coach, Victoria Jackson, the team had some bright spots throughout the season. In the first event of the fall, freshman Nathan London (Collierville, Tenn.) finished 14th at the Full Moon Invitational in Calera, Ala, shooting a final round 71.
CBU followed that with an 11th place finish at the Jay Jennison Cup in St. Augustine, Fla. Sophomore Valentin Romiti (Rio Cuarto, Argentina) finished tied for 10th with a stellar 212 total over three days including a final round 68 – his lowest round of the year.
Valentin Cerda led CBU to an eighth place finish at the Henderson State Battle for the Belt shooting 220 (74-72-74). Nathan London fired another 71 in the final round. CBU closed out the fall schedule with an eighth place finish at the Matt Dyas Invitational in Carrollton, Ga. Nathan London again paced the Bucs finishing tied for 11th at 225 (70-76-79).
The Bucs returned to St. Augustine to start the spring season finishing 19th at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate. London again led the Bucs with a T53 individual finish. London followed that with a 20th place finish at the Darrell Foreman Invitational with the Bucs finished fifth in the team competition.
After a 14th place finish at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, the Bucs finished 12th at the Arkansas Collegiate. Romiti led CBU with a T20 in Arkansas while freshman Alexian Rouault (Cambes en Plaine, France) led CBU at the Bobby Nichols.
With only one senior on this year's roster, CBU will return an experienced squad in 2024-25 and looks to improve going forward.
