The Buccaneers win second straight at Harding

SEARCY, Ark. – Christian Brothers University men's soccer (2-0-0) defeated Harding University (0-2-0) by a final score of 3-1 at Stevens Soccer Complex on Saturday night. The Buccaneers were firmly in control of the game from the opening whistle and recorded 21 shots, with nine on target, to keep the Bisons on their heels throughout the non-conference contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • CBU pelted the opposing keeper with 13 shots in the first half.
  • Moreno Gomez opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a header off a cross from the right side. Both Chandler and Aupied assisted on the goal.
  • Laing made it 2-0 Bucs in the 34th minute when he scored off a rebound from a cross. Blanche sent in the ball from the right side to register an assist.
  • Christian Brothers kept the pressure on the Bisons in the second half with eight shots recorded.
  • Blanche scored an unassisted goal in the 51st minute after stealing the ball off a Harding defender, 3-0.
  • Harding's Sikan Akpanudo scored late with a header off a cross in the 79th minute, 3-1.
  • CBU regrouped after the late goal and only allowed one more shot in the 90th minute that went amiss.

NEXT UP

The Bucs will host Florida Southern for their home opener on  Friday, Sept. 13 next. The match is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
