Box Score MONTEVALLO, Ala. – Christian Brothers women's soccer showed fight but couldn't overcome a strong second-half surge from Montevallo, falling 3–0 Wednesday evening at Varsity Field.
The Lady Buccaneers (1-6-1, 0-4-0 GSC) played even with the Falcons through the opening 45 minutes, limiting them to just three first-half shots. Goalkeeper Kaylee Allen anchored the defense early, recording two first-half saves to keep the game scoreless at the break.
Montevallo (6-2-0, 5-0-0 GSC) broke through in the 48th minute when Morgan Goehring found the net off an assist from Elise Marquardt. Less than five minutes later, the Falcons doubled their lead through Katelynn Kott, and they added a third in the 85th minute from Isabel Dillehay.
Despite the final scoreline, CBU generated chances. Madison Woolridge forced an early save in the 6th minute, while Cristal Tellez added another shot on goal before halftime. Forward Ana Dutra also tested Montevallo's defense with a late second-half attempt.
Allen finished with four saves against 14 total shots faced. Defensively, Lia Haggstrom, Lara Sanchez, Chloe May, Julia Brandao, and the back line played heavy minutes in holding Montevallo at bay for much of the match.
The Lady Bucs now turn their attention back home, looking to regroup and build on their competitive first half as conference play continues.
