PENSACOLA, Fl. – Christian Brothers University men's soccer earned an impressive road result on Sunday afternoon, drawing 2–2 with nationally ranked No. 11 West Florida at the UWF Soccer Complex.
The Buccaneers struck first just eight minutes into the match when Alexander Blanche converted his fourth goal of the season to give CBU a 1–0 advantage. West Florida responded quickly, leveling the score in the 11th minute.
The host Argonauts then pulled ahead 2–1.
CBU refused to back down, and the equalizer came in the 27th minute when Olivier van der Tuin notched his fourth goal of the campaign to make it 2–2 before halftime.
The Buccaneer defense, anchored by Sebastian Torka, held firm throughout the second half as the senior goalkeeper tallied three saves against 16 UWF shots.
Both sides had chances to find a winner, but the match ended level after a competitive, physical 90 minutes that featured 11 yellow cards.
With the draw, CBU moves to 8–2–2 overall and 5–0–2 in Gulf South Conference play, extending its unbeaten streak in league action to seven matches.
The Buccaneers return home next week to host Auburn Montgomery in another key GSC matchup.
