MEMPHIS, TN. – A late strike in the 89th minute proved to be the difference as Christian Brothers University men's soccer fell 1-0 to Montevallo on Friday night at Signaigo Field.
The Buccaneers (8-3-2, 5-1-2 GSC) controlled much of the match, outshooting the Falcons 15-10, including a 6-3 edge in shots on goal. Despite the pressure, Montevallo goalkeeper Andre Etcheverry stood firm with six saves to earn the clean sheet.
CBU created several quality chances throughout the evening, with Daiki Ebihara and Alexander Blanche combining for eight of the team's shots. The Bucs also earned seven corner kicks but were unable to find the finishing touch.
After 88 scoreless minutes, Montevallo capitalized on a late opportunity when Seth found the back of the net to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Sebastian Torka made two saves in goal for Christian Brothers.
The Buccaneers will return to action Sunday, October 26th, for the last home match of the regular season in Gulf South Conference play.
