CLEVELAND, TN. – Behind a strong defensive effort and a standout performance from goalkeeper Sebastian Torka, the Christian Brothers University men's soccer team closed out its regular season with a 0-0 draw against Lee University on Saturday afternoon at the Ray Conn Sports Complex.
The Buccaneers (8-5-3, 5-3-3 GSC) controlled long stretches of the match, firing 14 total shots with seven on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. On the other end, Torka matched the challenge, making four key stops to secure a shutout.
CBU's offense pressed early with shots from Olivier van der Tuin, Joe Vokins, and Daiki Ebihara, forcing Northcutt into early saves. The Bucs earned seven corner kicks in the match and spent much of the first half applying pressure in the attacking third. Despite the offensive rhythm, Lee's defense held firm and kept the match scoreless through halftime.
In the second half, both teams traded possession and fouls, with tensions rising as three Buccaneers—AJ Agbede, Ziad Esquivel, and Elliot Whalley—each picked up yellow cards. The Flames managed 13 total shots but could not break through the CBU backline anchored by Agbede, Matthias Ran De Berg, and Manuel Shelton, who each played the full 90 minutes.
The best chance for CBU came late in the first half when Thomas Lando found space inside the box, but his low strike was stopped by Northcutt to keep the game level.
