Christian Brothers wins one in series at Alabama Huntsville

Christian Brothers Falls Short Against Alabama Huntsville in GSC Opener

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Despite a late rally, Christian Brothers came up just short in a 6-5 loss to Alabama Huntsville in Gulf South Conference play Friday at Charger Park.

After falling behind 6-1 through four innings, the Buccaneers battled back with a three-run sixth and another run in the seventh to pull within one. However, the Chargers' bullpen held strong, shutting down Christian Brothers over the final two innings to seal the win.

Jackson Licata led the Buccaneers at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a two-run triple. Jalen Smith also contributed two hits and an RBI, while Cory Steinhauer added three hits, including a double.

On the mound, starter AJ Gamboa (1-1) took the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings. Dylan Bowers provided 4 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, striking out two and allowing just two hits.

Alabama Huntsville capitalized on early scoring opportunities, plating three runs in the third and two more in the fourth. Brock Butler's solo home run and a two-run single from Will Noles highlighted the Chargers' offensive effort.

Christian Brothers left 10 runners on base and had a chance to tie the game in the eighth and ninth innings but could not capitalize with runners in scoring position.

Christian Brothers Bounces Back to Split Doubleheader with Alabama Huntsville

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Christian Brothers secured a key Gulf South Conference victory in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday, defeating Alabama Huntsville 5-2 at Charger Park.

After dropping the first game of the series, the Buccaneers responded with strong pitching and timely hitting to even the series. Christian Brothers scored twice in the third and added three runs in the fifth to take control of the game.

Cameron Olivo (2-0) picked up the win, tossing 4 1/3 innings while allowing just one run on one hit. He worked around five walks, striking out one before handing the ball to Eli Potter, who closed the game with 2 2/3 innings of relief, giving up one run on two hits.

Offensively, the Buccaneers racked up eight hits, including four doubles. Logan Croley led the way, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, while Andrew Reed delivered a clutch two-run single in the fifth. Sam Walker also chipped in with an RBI double.

Alabama Huntsville was limited to three hits in the contest. The Chargers scored a run in the first and another in the seventh but were unable to generate enough offense against Christian Brothers' pitching staff.

Christian Brothers Drops Series Finale to Alabama Huntsville in Lopsided Contest

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Christian Brothers struggled on the mound and at the plate Saturday, falling 21-2 to Alabama Huntsville in the Gulf South Conference series finale at Charger Park.

The Buccaneers (5-5, 1-2 GSC) got off to a promising start, scoring single runs in the first and second innings. Will Gossett provided a bright spot with a solo home run in the second, while Sam Walker drove in the other run with an RBI single. However, that was all the offense Christian Brothers could muster, managing just three hits against a dominant Chargers pitching staff.

Alabama Huntsville (7-4, 2-1 GSC) exploded for 21 runs on 16 hits, scoring in each of the first five innings to put the game out of reach early. The Chargers capitalized on free passes issued by the Buccaneers' pitching staff, drawing 10 walks and three hit batters.

Christian Brothers cycled through eight pitchers in the game, with starter Michael Hanna (0-3) taking the loss after surrendering five runs in just one-third of an inning. The bullpen fared little better, allowing a combined 16 runs the rest of the way.
