CBU turns in nine top 10 finishes at the South Alabama Indoor Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Christian Brothers University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the South Alabama Indoor Invitational on Sunday. The Buccaneers recorded nine top 10 finishes in a field that included 17 colleges and universities from across the region.

Ethan Ackroyd won the men's 1 mile with a personal record time of 4:11.28. Teammate Anton Lindberg was not far behind with a time of 4:13.69 which was good enough for fourth place and also set a new personal record. Will Doughty also claimed a spot in the top 10 by crossing the finish line in 4:22.55. He finished eighth in the race to solidify CBU's dominance in the event.

In shorter distances, Nate Aupied earned a podium finish in the 400m with a blazing-fast time of 49.10 seconds. The men's soccer star came in third place. In the women's 800m, Meghan Turner recorded a personal record time of 2:18.39 to finish fifth in the middle distance race.

In longer distances, Ackroyd turned in his second personal record performance of the day in the 3000m. He crossed the finish line in 8:27.87 and placed fifth to showcase his incredible endurance.

CBU's men's 4x400m relay team also accomplished a fifth place finish with a 3:22.01 mark. Andreas Demetriades, Robert Richardson, Amare Biggers and Marcus Moses made up the team.

In field events, both Gioia Scopel and Terrion Brown placed in the top 10 in their respective events. Scopel's distance of 1.54m in the women's high jump was eighth best at the meet. Brown's distance of 12.27m in the men's triple jump was ninth longest in the competition.
