Game Recap: Baseball |

Christian Brothers Battles Hard but Falls Short in Series Against West Alabama

Livingston, AL – The Christian Brothers University baseball team faced a challenging weekend on the road, dropping a three-game Gulf South Conference series against West Alabama at Tartt Field. Despite a strong offensive showing in Game 2, the Bucs struggled to contain the Tigers' bats, falling to 6-11 on the season.

Game 1: Bucs Shut Out in Series Opener
Christian Brothers (6-9) opened the series on Friday with a 3-0 loss to West Alabama (9-7). The Bucs' offense was held in check, managing just six hits while stranding six runners on base. Jackson Licata provided one of the few highlights with a double, while Tate Gentleman went 2-for-2. Pitcher Cory Faoro (2-2) took the loss despite a solid eight-inning outing, allowing only one earned run on three hits while striking out seven.

Game 2: Bucs Explode for Eight Runs but Fall 10-8
Christian Brothers responded in Game 2 on Saturday with an offensive breakout, scoring eight runs on nine hits. A six-run third inning, highlighted by home runs from Logan Croley and Cory Steinhauer, gave the Bucs an early advantage. Croley led the way with three RBIs, while Sam Walker added a two-run double. However, West Alabama answered with three home runs of their own, including a game-winning shot in the eighth. The Bucs' bullpen struggled to contain the Tigers, allowing 10 runs on 12 hits in the 10-8 defeat.

Game 3: Late Rally Falls Short in Series Finale
In the series finale, Christian Brothers fought hard but fell 7-5. The Bucs struck first with a three-run second inning, led by a two-run homer from Seth Brown. They added runs in the fourth and seventh innings, but West Alabama's power at the plate proved too much. Despite home runs from Brown and Croley, the Bucs managed just four hits. Pitching struggles continued, with the staff allowing nine hits, including two home runs.

Looking Ahead
Christian Brothers will look to regroup as they return home for their next Gulf South Conference matchup against Delta State. With the offense finding its stride, the Bucs will aim to tighten up their pitching as they push for a bounce-back series.
