Baseball Sweeps Lane in High Scoring Doubleheader

Christian Brothers swept a doubleheader over Lane on Tuesday winning both games by a run – 13-12 in game one and 12-11 in game two.  It marked the first time this season that the Bucs have scored more than 10 runs in consecutive games.

GAME 1
Jackson Licata lifted a sacrifice fly to deep left field scoring pinch runner Dylan Bowers in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift CBU to a 13-12 victory.  CBU jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning as they capitalized on four walks and two hit batters by Lane pitching.  However, Lane responded with eight runs in the top of the second to take the lead. After CBU scored a run in the bottom of the second on an RBI double by Cayden Freels, Lane tacked on two more runs in the top of the third.
CBU tied it at 10-10 in the bottom of the third on an RBI triple by Nick Petruzzello and a run-scoring single by Sam Walker.  The Bucs forged an 11-10 lead in the fourth when Petruzzello doubled in a run.  After Lane scored two in the top of the fifth to lead 12-11, CBU battled back tying the game in the bottom of the seventh when Licata singled in Petruzzello.  That set up Licata's game-winning fly in the bottom of the eighth.  Michael Hanna pitched three strong innings of relief shutting out Lane while striking out three.

GAME 2
After falling behind 4-1, CBU rallied for five runs in the bottom of the second to take the lead.  The Bucs drew five walks in the inning and Licata tripled to get the runs home.  CBU added two runs in the third on an RBI single by Andrew Reed and a run-scoring double by Logan WurmJalen Smith singled home a run in the fourth to put the Bucs up, 9-6.  CBU added three more in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly by Sam Walker and a two-run homer by Cory Steinhauer.  The homer was Steinhauer's second game after delivering a solo shot in the first inning.
