CBU lost three games to Montevallo in a weekend Gulf South Conference baseball series. Montevallo won the first game, 9-8, and then swept a doubleheader by scores of 8-4 and 19-3.    The Bucs are now 15-24 overall and 5-22 in Gulf South play.
GAME ONE
    Christian Brothers staged a furious ninth inning rally that fell one run short in a 9-8 loss. After falling behind, 8-1, after two innings, the Bucs chipped away at the lead. Trailing 9-3 in the ninth, CBU exploded for five runs. With one out,
Jalen Smith singled in a run and then
Logan Croley slapped a two-run double.Â
Jordan Long scored on a wild pitch followed by a run-scoring groundout by
Seth Brown. The Bucs had the potential tying and winning runs on base, but couldn't push them across the plate.
Eli Potter struck out four in two innings of scoreless relief.
GAME TWO
    Montevallo broke a 4-4 tie with a run in the fourth and three more in the fifth to win, 8-4.Â
Seth Brown and
Jalen Smith had two hits apiece for the Bucs and
Logan Wurm drove in two with a double.Â
Michael Hanna pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief for CBU.
GAME THREE
    Montevallo erupted for eight runs in the fifth inning and six in the seventh to win, 19-3.Â
Jalen Smith had two hits for CBU. Smith,
Seth Brown and
Patrick Mangels had RBI for the Bucs.
