Game 1: Buccaneers Explode for 13 Runs Over Miles
MEMPHIS, TN- Christian Brothers opened the season in strong fashion with a 13–3 win over Miles, powered by a balanced offensive attack and timely pitching. The Buccaneers collected 13 hits and erupted for an 11-run fifth inning to break the game open.
At the plate, Ashley Williamson led the way with three hits, setting the tone at the top of the lineup. Kate Candies delivered a standout performance, going 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and three RBIs, while Mackenzie Gieseler and Abby Drabek each drove in two runs with clutch hits. Dakota Davis added an RBI single, and Katelyn Harmon chipped in with key RBIs and aggressive baserunning.
In the circle, Emily Schooler earned the win, allowing just one run over four innings while striking out five. Jenna Bettge closed the game and finished the outing on the mound.
Overall, Christian Brothers showed offensive depth, speed on the bases, and composure in the season opener, setting a strong tone for the weekend.
Game 2: CBU Shows Offensive Depth and Competitive Edge in Doubleheader Finale
Christian Brothers University remained competitive in the second game of the doubleheader against Miles, using the contest to continue building early-season rhythm and chemistry. While the Lady Buccaneers were held scoreless, they maintained disciplined at-bats and continued to compete throughout the game. Kate Candies provided steady leadership, while Abby Drabek, Mackenzie Gieseler, Ashley Williamson, Katelyn Harmon, and Dakota Davis worked to generate offensive opportunities. The Lady Buccaneers gained valuable experience and will look to get back in the win column on February 13 at Truman State University.
