Memphis, TN- The Christian Brothers baseball team played a three-game road series against Delta State from March 6th & 8th. The Buccaneers dropped the first two games but bounced back to win the final game of the series.

Game 1 – March 6

Delta State 15, Christian Brothers 8

Christian Brothers recorded 16 hits but could not keep pace with Delta State in a 15–8 loss.

The Buccaneers got on the board in the first inning when Brayden Basey scored on a wild pitch. Will Gossett followed with a solo home run in the second inning to cut the deficit to 4–2.

Delta State built a large lead early with four runs in the first inning, three in the second, and three more in the third.

CBU responded with three runs in the fourth inning. Ivan Zambrano and Mikey Rodriquez each drove in runs, and Isaac Lemanski added another RBI later in the game.

Gossett and Lemanski each finished with three hits, while Shahkai Matthews added two hits for the Buccaneers.

Game 2 – March 6

Delta State 9, Christian Brothers 7

Christian Brothers held the lead for much of the game but Delta State used a big sixth inning to win 9–7.

The Buccaneers scored four runs in the second inning. Zowen Collins hit a three-run home run, and Shahkai Matthews added an RBI single to give CBU a 4–1 lead.

Ivan Zambrano added a solo home run in the third inning, and Patrick Mangels and Will Gossett each drove in runs later in the game as the Buccaneers built a 7–3 lead.

Delta State answered with six runs in the sixth inning. Tucker Jones hit a grand slam during the rally to give the Statesmen the lead.

Zambrano led CBU with three hits, while Gossett added two hits and two runs scored.

Game 3 – March 8

Christian Brothers 8, Delta State 3

Christian Brothers finished the series with an 8–3 victory on Sunday.

The Buccaneers scored first in the opening inning when Ivan Zambrano drove in Shahkai Matthews. CBU added four more runs in the third inning, including a two-run double from Nick Petruzzello.

Charlie Wooten drove in another run in the fourth inning, and Zowen Collins added a solo home run in the fifth.

Delta State scored three runs in the fifth inning, but Christian Brothers added one more run in the seventh when Will Gossett doubled to bring home Matthews.

Gossett led the offense with three hits, while Petruzzello and Collins each had two RBIs.

Kade Johnson earned the win after pitching five innings, and Thomas Leiden threw four scoreless innings in relief to secure the victory.
