MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Christian Brothers University women's soccer team faced a tough early-season test Thursday afternoon, falling 3-0 to nationally ranked McKendree at Signaigo Field.

CBU (1-2) battled a McKendree squad that improved to 4-0 on the season. The Bearcats struck early, scoring in the third minute before adding a second goal in the 36th minute. McKendree added its final goal shortly after halftime at the 48:32 mark.

Despite the result, the Lady Bucs continued to compete against one of the stronger opponents on their early-season schedule. CBU earned two corner kicks in the opening half and another early in the second half as it looked for opportunities to cut into the deficit.

Goalkeeper Kaylee Allen played all 90 minutes for the Lady Bucs and recorded two saves against eight McKendree shots. CBU's defense limited the Bearcats to five shots on goal despite McKendree applying consistent pressure throughout the contest.

The matchup provided another valuable early-season opportunity for a CBU team continuing to grow under first-year head coach Christopher Tadley. Facing high-level competition early in the year gives the Lady Bucs a chance to identify areas for improvement as they continue preparing for Gulf South Conference play.

CBU will look to take the lessons learned from Thursday's contest and carry them into its next matchup.
