MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs will receive their 2008 Gulf South Conference Championship rings Saturday afternoon as they kick off the 2008-09 season at Canale Arena.

The Bucs will receive their rings at halftime of the Lady Bucs' game against LeMoyne-Owen.  With the women's tip-off set for 3 p.m., the ring presentation will be at approximately 3:30 p.m.

The CBU basketball teams have high hopes for the new season.  The Lady Bucs return three starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's team, which went 19-10, and they will face a LeMoyne-Owen squad coming off a 6-23 mark a year ago.

The Lady Bucs have won 11 straight over the Lady Magicians, and they have taken 13 of the last 14 meetings.

The Bucs will face LeMoyne-Owen at 5 p.m.

The Bucs have three starters and seven lettermen back from last year's GSC Championship team, which went 22-10.  The Magicians were 14-14 a year ago, finishing in second place in the SIAC.

LeMoyne-Owen holds a 35-29 all-time edge in the men's series, but the Bucs have won nine of the last 10 meetings, including three straight since a 60-58 loss at Bruce Hall in 2005.

Tune into CBU's Stretch Internet channel Friday for a special season preview Coach's Show with Scott Groninger and Mike Nienaber.  The Lady Bucs' preview is set for 5:00 p.m., with the Bucs' show scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Live stats for both games will be carried with the all-new SIDEARM Stats feature on gobucsgo.com, and a live and archived webcast will also be available.
