MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs will receive their 2008 Gulf South Conference Championship rings Saturday afternoon as they kick off the 2008-09 season at Canale Arena.
The Bucs will receive their rings at halftime of the Lady Bucs' game against LeMoyne-Owen. With the women's tip-off set for 3 p.m., the ring presentation will be at approximately 3:30 p.m.
The CBU basketball teams have high hopes for the new season. The Lady Bucs return three starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's team, which went 19-10, and they will face a LeMoyne-Owen squad coming off a 6-23 mark a year ago.
The Lady Bucs have won 11 straight over the Lady Magicians, and they have taken 13 of the last 14 meetings.
The Bucs will face LeMoyne-Owen at 5 p.m.
The Bucs have three starters and seven lettermen back from last year's GSC Championship team, which went 22-10. The Magicians were 14-14 a year ago, finishing in second place in the SIAC.
LeMoyne-Owen holds a 35-29 all-time edge in the men's series, but the Bucs have won nine of the last 10 meetings, including three straight since a 60-58 loss at Bruce Hall in 2005.
