Big First Half Carries Bucs 72-66

Colin Flynn scored a season-high 13 points to help the Bucs to a 72-66 win over Barry Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena.
Box Score MEMPHIS—The Christian Brothers University Bucs exploded for 42 points in the first half, leading by as much as 22 before holding on for a 72-66 win over Barry Saturday afternoon at Canale Arena.

The Bucs (8-2) made seven three-pointers in the first half as they opened up a big lead in the final minutes of the opening half.  A Colin Flynn (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle HS) three-pointer with 11:16 remaining in the first half sparked a 22-4 run that left the Bucs ahead 36-16 with 4:46 remaining in the half.

Another Flynn triple gave the Bucs their biggest lead of the day at 42-20 with 1:17 remaining, but Barry (3-3) steadily whittled away at the lead from there, coming as close as five points when a Karega Tucker three-point play with 1:16 remaining cut the lead to 65-60.

The Bucs salted the game away at the free throw line, making five of the next six free throws as they put it out of reach.

Senior center Nick Kohs (Cincinnati, Ohio/Lakota East HS) led the Bucs with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Reggie Peyton (Memphis, Tenn./St. Benedict HS) added 15 to his team-high three steals.  Flynn scored a season high 13 points in 14 minutes.

The Bucs finished 11-of-23 (47.8 percent) from three-point range as they shot 21-of-42 (50 percent) overall for the game.

The Bucs will be back in action Friday night at 7 p.m. as they host Missouri-St. Louis.
