Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—A Kael Coleman three-pointer with 52 seconds remaining broke a 47-all tie and lifted host Alabama-Huntsville to a 50-49 win over the Christian Brothers University Bucs Saturday night.
Coleman scored a game-high 16 to lead the Chargers (3-3) past the Bucs (6-2) as CBU committed 18 turnovers and shot just 36 percent.
The Bucs led throughout the first half and early into the second half before UAH seized the lead with a 9-0 run capped by a Jordan Brewer layup that gave the Chargers a 34-29 lead with 12:24 remaining. The Bucs came back to take a one-point lead twice in the final six minutes, but Coleman scored the Chargers' final seven points, keeping them in front.
Brandon Shane (Greenfield, Tenn./Greenfield HS) sank a pair of free throws with 18 seconds to play after Coleman's three-pointer, and the Bucs came up with a steal, but they missed a shot and turned the ball over in the final seconds.
Shane was the only Buc in double figures with 13 points.
Scott Dennis (Cincinnati, Ohio/Sycamore HS) grabbed double-figure rebounds for the second straight game with 10.
Brewer added 10 for the Chargers.
The Bucs will try to get back to their winning ways Tuesday night at 7 p.m. as they host Ecclesia.
